Joe was my very first horse; an unforgettable gentleman who changed my life and began my love affair with Morgans.

Joe was a 14.2 hand ½ Morgan, ½ Quarter Horse. I got him for my eleventh birthday when he was already the ripe old age of 18, and I loved him until his end of days at 26.

Joe did everything that a horse-crazy teen could ask. He was my willing co-conspirator in everything from play-day gymkhanas all the way to getting spiffed up for a halter class. (Which incidentally gave me my first ever blue ribbon! Not bad for an almost 20 year old horse who had never been shown before…)

Joe and I continued to grow and learn together. He taught me the important lessons in life, all the while being my nonjudgmental listener to all the teenage problems I thought I had.  As I began riding and showing other horses, Joe remained my favorite trail companion. He was the greatest gift I’ve ever received, and I’m still so thankful to my parents for the sacrifices they made so we could keep him. I wish he was still here to teach my son that same important horse wisdom...
